Aloha,
For those of you twitter folks, where's a quick "Twitter Tip of the day." Be sure to follow us on Twitter at: https://twitter.com/socialwahines
A "retweet" (or RT for short) is when someone repeats a tweet you already posted, which then helps spread your name and message to their entire audience. Retweets are one of the easiest shortcuts to going viral on social media. Getting retweeted can easily spread your link and message to hundreds or thousands of people instantly. Sounds pretty good, right? But hold on there cowgirl, there are a few things you need to know to increase your odds of getting retweeted!
1. For a message to be shared, it needs to be something that makes the sharer look good. People retweet a message when they think it's something that their followers would benefit from. So the first rule of retweeting is simple - "Would YOU pass this on? Is it good enough to repeat?"
2. What types of things do people tend to retweet? People love retweeting: humor, compelling or surprising content, and most of all, inspirational content. This can either be a tweet that falls into one of these categories, or a link to a blog post that does.
3. Remember to keep your tweet short and to the point, with a clear message.
4. And don't forget to ask! A simple "please RT" works wonders.
Now get out there and get retweeted! :-)
